WARSAW FIRE STATION

Warsaw Fire Station

This new facility for the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, houses the fire department and EMS. The design includes a 6060 sf apparatus bay (3 drive throughs), 220 sf gear room, living quarters, full kitchen and bunk room, laundry facilities, and officer quarters (a total of 13,750 sf).

Utilitarian areas are located at the core of the building, allowing spaces that benefit most from daylighting to be built around the perimeter. Additionally, windows are operable giving a residential feel to the living quarters while allowing natural ventilation. Along the east side of the building are the exercise and bunk rooms and a lounge. The kitchen is located to the south with close access to a patio for grilling.

Clear access routes were developed from the exercise, bunk rooms, and lounge to the apparatus bay providing quicker response times for calls. The gear room is off of the apparatus bay and adjacent to a space for the extractor and gear dryer. The apparatus bay includes a confined space access to a storm line for training. The lockers are off of the gear and exercise rooms, and purposefully close to restrooms and laundry facilities.
